Privacy policy
What personal data Genform collects, why, who receives it and the choices you have.
In short
- We collect what we need to run your account, your designs, your plan and your orders. We do not sell personal data and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
- Genform pages set no advertising cookies. Google Analytics runs on plakhaus.com only if you accept it.
- When you are signed in, we log basic usage events (such as logins, exports and an activity heartbeat) to run and secure the service.
- Payments are handled by PayPal and other payment providers. We never see or store your full card number.
- You can ask us to access, correct, export or delete your data by writing to hello@gen-form.com.
1. Who we are
Genform (“we”, “us”) operates gen-form.com, the Genform customer portal and the Genform design tools, including Plakhaus (plakhaus.com and its Studio), Lumhaus, Cavity, Taghaus and Hey Buddy, and the storefront and ordering services connected to them. Genform is based in Delaware, USA, and decides how and why the personal data described here is used.
Contact for privacy questions and requests: hello@gen-form.com.
This policy does not cover other sites you reach from ours, such as MakerWorld, MakerLab, PayPal, Etsy or Google. Their own policies apply to them.
2. What we collect
| Category | What it includes | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Account | Email address, a password (stored as a one-way hash; a temporary activation password is stored encrypted until you choose your own), account role, plan and plan dates, last sign-in time. For Google sign-in: your Google email address and Google account identifier. | You, or Google when you choose to sign in with it |
| Purchases of our licenses | For purchases made on MakerWorld: your MakerWorld username or ID, order and reward details, amount and time. To match your purchase, we compare the last four digits of your card and your billing postal code against stored keyed hashes; we do not keep them in readable form. | You, and MakerWorld and its payment processor |
| Payments | Subscription and payment status, amounts, transaction identifiers and receipts. Card numbers are handled by the payment provider and never reach us. | Payment providers, such as PayPal |
| Your work | Designs, uploaded images and files, product and storefront details, and workspace settings that you save to your Genform account. | You |
| Orders | When you sell or buy through a Genform storefront: product choices, the production file, the buyer’s name, email, phone number and delivery address, and the seller’s payout details (such as a PayPal email). | Buyers and sellers |
| Messages and feedback | Support chat and email messages, feedback ratings and comments, and waitlist entries (email and the idea you describe). | You |
| Connected services | If you connect Etsy: your shop details and the access tokens that Etsy issues (stored encrypted). We read orders from Etsy on demand and do not keep them. | You and Etsy |
| Usage and security data | When you are signed in: events such as logins, exports and which editor steps you use, plus a periodic activity signal while an editor is open. Each event is stored with your account email, plan, IP address and country (when available). We do not store your browser’s user-agent string. | Your browser and device, automatically |
| Website analytics | On plakhaus.com, and only if you accept: pages viewed, approximate location and device and browser details, collected by Google Analytics through cookies. | Your browser, with your consent |
In the Plakhaus editor, images and geometry are processed in your browser. We receive your designs only when you choose to save them to your account, upload them or place an order.
3. How we use it, and our legal bases
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we rely on these legal bases:
- To provide the service (contract). Creating and securing your account, activating licenses, running the design tools and storefronts, processing subscriptions and orders, coordinating production and delivery with independent partners, and answering your questions.
- To keep the service safe and working (legitimate interests). Preventing fraud and abuse, checking license entitlement, measuring product usage, fixing problems and improving the tools.
- To communicate with you (contract and legitimate interests). Service emails such as email verification, password resets, replies to your messages, trial and subscription notices, and activation links.
- To measure website visits (consent). Google Analytics on plakhaus.com, only if you accept it.
- To meet legal obligations. Tax, accounting, fraud prevention and responding to lawful requests.
We do not sell personal data, we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not make decisions about you based solely on automated processing that have legal or similarly significant effects.
6. International transfers
Genform is operated from the United States, and our team works remotely, so data can be processed and accessed in the United States and in other countries, which may have different data protection laws than yours. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses, for transfers of data from the EEA, the United Kingdom or Switzerland.
7. How long we keep it
- Account and workspace data: while your account is active, and then deleted or anonymized within 30 days of a verified deletion request, unless we must keep it.
- Usage events: activity signals are deleted after 2 days. Other events are deleted after 365 days.
- Messages, feedback and waitlist entries: until you ask us to delete them or your account is closed.
- Orders and payment records: as long as needed for accounting, tax, fraud prevention and dispute handling, which can be several years.
- Backups: we keep database backups for about 30 days. Deleted data can remain in backups until they expire.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal data, to restrict or object to certain processing, to withdraw consent at any time, and to complain to your data protection authority. If you are a California resident, you may also ask what we collect, and request that we delete or correct it. You will not be treated differently for using these rights.
To make a request, write to hello@gen-form.com from the email address on your account, and tell us what you need. We verify your identity and reply within 30 days (45 days where California law applies). There is no fee, unless a request is clearly excessive. An authorized agent may act for you with your written permission.
We do not sell personal data or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We treat a Global Privacy Control signal as a rejection of analytics on plakhaus.com.
9. Security
We protect data with encryption in transit (HTTPS with HSTS), hashed or encrypted credentials, encrypted storage of connected-service tokens, access controls and logged administrator access. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please use a strong, unique password and tell us right away if you suspect unauthorized access.
10. Children
Genform is not directed to children under 16, and our plans and licenses can be bought only by adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Google user data
If you sign in with Google, we receive your email address and Google account identifier, and we store only those two items. We use them only to create your account and sign you in. We do not use Google user data for advertising, we do not sell it, and we do not transfer it except as needed to provide the service or as the law requires. Genform’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version. We will announce material changes in the customer portal or by email.
